January Check In/February Goals

I thought I would do an update on what I completed in January:

1. Hat for J (Mahomes Hat)
2. Hat for M (Mahomes Hat)
3. Hat for Me (Valentines Hat)
4. Ear warmer for my mom (Cabled Earwarmer)
5. Snowflake socks (J swiped!)
6. Project from red/black/grey yarn for J (Fingerless Mitts)
7. Began my Northeasterly, have added to it since this!
8. Added 2 squares to my Cozy Memories
9. Finished 6 hats for classes

 My goals in February include:

1. Work on Mason’s cardigan
2. 1 of 2 deer hats
3. Finish 1 pair of socks - teacher pair
4. More class hats
5. Cozy memories squares - at least 6

I have caked up the yarns for their teacher socks, I've chosen patterns, I just need to get started on them!

I'm not sure why I didn't post this on Tuesday, but I finished a hat for myself. Just in time for Valentine's day!!!

Last fall, we went to a local yarn store, Jackson picked out a yarn. He was insistent on this specific yarn! Of course, it was Lightning McQueen colors! He pondered many different projects and decided on fingerless mitts. Here's what we came up with together.

Another weekend, another hat!

I managed to finish only one hat this weekend! It was a packed weekend. Friday night I attended a function with our culinary team. We served appetizers along with 3 other high schools at a restaurant association ball. Personally, I think we had the best appetizer BY FAR!

On Saturday, we participated in our Cub Scout Pack's Pinewood Derby! M placed 4th in the Tigers, J won for the Wolves! He placed 4th in the Championship round!!! He was very upset he didn't win it all. Daddy and I learned a lot for next year! Then they both had basketball games, they both played their best games so far!

Hat #5

Last night I cast on and finished hat #5 for our classroom of hats project! I worked on a good chunk of it during first grade basketball practice! These have been fun to work on, it's nice to have a mindless project once in a while! My plan is to make 40 of them throughout the year until I know for sure how many kids are in their classes next year. I will also make a few extra so that each kid has a choice of hat color.

Now, to see how many we can complete this weekend! Lol! I really need to get started on M's cardigan!

Busy week!

I was going to try and post every single day, I have this page open on my school computer. The lazy weekend got away from me and I totally forgot to post!!! We had a long weekend, MLK day, and a snow day in the last week!

I spent Friday night at a debate tournament, so I had plenty of time to work and I finished M's Mahomes hat. He was thrilled to wake up to find it!

 

Here they both are together in their hats!!! They have been a huge hit around town and at school!

 

A few weeks ago, Jackson asked me if I would make all the kids in his class a hat. Mason wanted in on this too! I told them I could, but I would not be able to get them done for this school year. I decided I would make it easy on myself, since I'll be making 40ish hats and make them with acrylic yarn (easy for parents to take care of), in a various variegated colorways, and just make a basic vanilla hat with a pom on top. That way they will all be the same, with the exception of color, and maybe it would be easier for kids to choose. So I dug out all that I currently had at home, then we hit up a Michaels sale. I have been able to get 4 completed so far!

It's a simple pattern. US size 7, 16" circular needle. WW yarn. Cast on 72, K2P2 around for 6 rows, knit around until it reaches 6.5". Begin decreases, *K7, K2tog around,* K 1 round, *K6, K2tog around* K1 round, repeat until you reach 24 stitches, *K1, K2tog around,* then K2tog around, cut yarn, then draw the yarn through the remaining 8 loops, pull tight, weave in all ends!

 And finally, I whipped this out last night, my mom has been asking me for an ear warmer. I've even hat the yarn! I just never sat down to do it. So last night I did, it took me all of 2.5 hours, if that, to complete. She was SO happy this morning when I gave it to her!

 I will begin working earnestly on M's cardigan he has helped design. And continue working on hats!

Red Friday!

Last night I started M's Mahomes hat last night, I finished the red ribbing and started the brown twisted section. I made it about an inch or so on the hair portion. I didn't take a picture of it yet. Both boys wore Chiefs jerseys this morning and J wore his hat today, he was so excited to wear it!

Finished, only to begin again!

Last night I finished Monster's Chief's hat, I just need to order a Chiefs patch for him. He has become quite the Patrick Mahomes fan and requested a hat with Mahomes hair! This is what I was able to come up with! Now he wants a jersey......and I have to make a hat for little brother now!

Updates and Goals

Here I am, four years later updating my blog. Life has been so busy that I just forgot about it. Life as a mom of two little boys who are very active with school, scouts, and sports, just fills up my time! I have several projects going on right now, I'll discuss a couple of those.

In 2018, I completed:
20 Hats
14 Pairs of Socks
3 Shawls
1 Baby Vest

For 2019, I have set some lofty goals. My boys have both asked if I could make hats for their classmates, I told them I could, but for next school year. I need to get started ASAP! M has also asked for a cardigan, in fingering weight. Oy. I may see if I can get him to change his mind to something Worsted Weight!

I have already finished the Snowflake socks I cast on New Years Day, J promptly swiped them! He is quite proud of them, he is totally knitworthy!

And finally, J asked me to make him a Patrick Mahomes hat, he saw a picture of a kid wearing a store bought one and asked if I could make them one. I'm trying. It will take longer than a normal hat. He hasn't seen my start of it yet. I'll post a new photo tomorrow when I get more than one row completed!

Current projects

About 2 weeks ago, we welcomed a new baby girl into our family! My younger brother and his wife had their second daughter, Brooklyn! I had started a Chevron Baby Blanket for her before she was born, but got sidetracked with a pair of socks for a swap I participated it. More on that later! I finished the socks about a week ago and have been working on this blanket. I'm loving the way it is turning out!

This first photo is from Saturday morning, I started somewhere in the middle of the second grey stripe!

This second photo is from Sunday afternoon, I got a little farther than this photo that evening!

And this is from last night! I have at lease one more repeat to go, grey, lavender, grey, teal, then ending in grey again. Though, I may go for 2 more repeats of the 4 stripes!

 I am really loving the way this is turning out!! I hope her mommy loves it too!

Monkey Socks for my mom

I've been working on a a pair of socks for my mom. When I started knitting socks she didn't want any, she said they'd hurt her feet. So I just had to make her a pair anyway, right?!?! Well, she loved them! They were Christmas socks. So that year she put them away with her decorations. And has never been able to find them again. I've always teased her that I wasn't making her another pair. Well, she saw my sock yarn stash (part of it anyway) and asked if she could have a pair out of this very bright (not her style( yarn. So onto the needles it went, I'm making her a pair of CookieA's Monkey Socks. She has seen them so far and loves them! Here is an in progress pi to, I think I'm going to knit one more repeat then start the heals!

October Mom's Traveling Socks - Spoiler Alert

These are the last October mom's travelers I have worked on. I mailed them on a few weeks ago, but forgot to post photos! These were done with one of my favorite yarns, Wicked!

As I mentioned earlier, I am involved in several traveling socks. This post is for my October mom's group. If you are in this group and don't want to see your socks, keep moving, don't read anymore!

 Here are my toes, started with a bright pink, bright green, orange and red superwash sock yarn!

We are each sending stitch markers for each mom, kind of commemorating the experience! Here are the ones that I made and sent, they are a pink crystal, our babies all, well almost all, have this for a birthstone!

Here are Holly's socks, I used Wildfoote in Lilac Desert, very soft yarn in pattern Love & Liqour!

Blogless for too long!

I have been away far too long! In the last 3 years, there has been not one, but 2 baby McGonagalls!!! Jackson was born in October 2010 and Mason in February 2012!!!

This picture is from Christmas, but one of my favorites of them together!!!

I didn't get much knitting completed after Jackson was born, but I have been getting quite a bit done in the last few months!!!

I am involved in 3 traveling socks and a traveling monster, those are fun. I'll make posts for each as I get to the next step of each!!

I am knitting 3 baby hats for my photographer cousin to use as props for triplets she is photographing later this summer! I'll post those when they are finished! And pictures when they are born!

I'm also working on a pair of Monkey socks for my mom, in a colorway I was surprised to see her pick out! I'll post those! I'm about halfway done with the leg portion!

I promise I will work better at posting updates!

Stig arrived today!!!

I received seriously the BEST.PACKAGE.EVER from Clara today via her owl Stig!!!!! It was heavy and there were lots of little packages jam packed in it! I can't even begin to describe it all and give the proper credit to Clara!

This is the cute little package for our little one. Jackson will love them! I love the socks and the hat and can't wait to use them, but that owl bib is just something else! I just fell completely in love with it! I can't wait until he is here and can use these for him!

Almost ready....

I am almost ready to send Winifred her package! My owl is getting all rested and should be out sometime this week, he is very excited to be heading out on a fun trip! My dark arts detector, Bella, is checking everything over to make sure that everything is good to go!

Busy week!!!!

Today my younger brother got married! We are so happy for him! I have been so busy the past 3 days! I left work early on Thursday to come homme and bake the cakes, I went through 18 cake mixes. Then yesterday I decorated 5 tiers of cake. 2 for the grooms cake served at the rehearsal, then a 3 tier that was served today at the wedding. And on top of all of this, we babysat our 8 month old niece overnight last night! I have never had a baby overnight before, that was fun, she's so snuggly when she's sleepy!!!!

Bad blogger!

I can't believe I haven't posted in 2 weeks, I'm such a bad blogger and student! My muggle school is winding down, so I have been extremely busy with graduations, finals and my younger brother getting married! I have also been working on something for my spoilee! Surprises around every corner!

As I sit here typing in my bed, my pups is looking at me but can barely keep her eyes open! She wants to watch, but she's had a busy day sniffing out Dark Arts. Not that we've seen anything, she's just always on the sniff-out! We are very lucky to have her.

Baby things happening!

Today Mr. McGonagall and I with the assistance of our Dark Arts detector, Bella, put together our crib for baby McGonagall! We hadn't planned on it, but we were cleaning house and decided to move the box into the baby room and when we did, we just decided to put it together! It's pretty cool, now we just can't wait to know what color of bedding to get for it.
