Busy, busy week!

Sunday we attended the Disney on Ice: Princess Wishes show. It was my first Disney on Ice. We had 3rd row tickets. I can't believe how much the "crap" costs at things like that. The Flounder hat on the nieces' head came with cotton candy and cost 10 bucks. She wanted just about everything! It was lots of fun and she looked beautiful in her Easter dress.

This is my new ring!!!! I had it made for me. The stone is a lavendar sapphire. It belonged to my beloved great-grandmother. She just had this as a loose stone, it wasn't in any piece of jewelry. I sold another ring and was able to pay for the ring, the diamonds and the labor. I also bought the niece her first ring and spent a little over $7!
Continuing with my bargains, I was bought tickets for my grandmother and I to fly to Denver this summer with my mom. My mom is attending for a training for school, so the hotel is paid. We get to go and spend a few days playing around. Well, I have $400 in airline vouchers from last summer. I flew to LA for a conference. I volunteered for someone to take my seat on an overbooked flight and earned the vouchers (and 8 hours at the Denver airport!) So I called today to use those vouchers, I was able to purchase a ticket for both my grandmother and myself for $16.80!!! How cool is that??!?!?!?!
We had 3 fights at school on Thursday. I'm not sure of what really happend, but I know we had a couple of students get arrested and one was maced. I don't work at a rough school, this is really the first incident we've had this year. But we're not being given much information.
I finished another class this week. My classes are 6 weeks long, I have completed 5 now, I'm half done. I have maintained my 4.0, I'm very excited about that. I've only had a 4.0 one other time in my life, my last semester in college. I'm not the best student and I have severe test anxiety. Luckily in Masters courses, there are really no tests!!! I do have to write a paper that will end up being 35-40 pages when completed, but I have 12 already finished. I start a new one in two weeks!
I have found my new vice! Christopher Elbow chocolates. These are absolutely beautiful, so pretty you almost don't want to eat them. I'm going to buy my MIL a box for mother's day. The flavors are fantastic, I've not tried one I didn't like. This is in downtown KC, which really isn't that far from my house, just out of my normal routine. So I was near downtown the other day and bought some for my mom and I. I highly recommend these.

My owl has arrived!!!!

I received my owl yesterday!! What a way to start spring break! Boy did Lady Felula the Forgetful, Gryffindor house, spoil the heck out of me! Here is a picture of everything, I received two beautiful sock yarns, one in book colors and one in movie colors (which I cannot show my sister, as I know that she will beg me to make her socks with it!) I can't wait to begin my new pair of socks, a beautiful bag (which did not want it's picture taken, I tried to take an individual picture and it was being stubborn!), a set of Clover size 2 dpns, stitch markers that spell out RAVENCLAW, needle point protectors that are sock shaped, a dragon like in Goblet of Fire (which is going on my desk at school Monday morning), a wonderful candle (which is not pictured, it parked itself in my bathroom, lighting the way!) and 7 patterns, I think!!!! I cannot wait to begin my socks. I do have to finish my baby shower gifts, as it is in 3 weeks, but then socks, here I come!!! Thank you so much Felula!
Here's a picture of my whole package!
Here is a picture of my sock yarns, Merino wool, yummy!

I meant to post this yesterday, but I misplaced my camera cord! My mom is spending the night tomorrow night or I guess now tonight seeing it is after 1am, so my apartment has to be mom clean!! I put my cord in my knitting basket, imagine that, in my haste to clean up!

Eewww, I am taping Bizarre Foods with Andrew Zimmern, I show this in my Nutrition classes when we are talking about cultural influences on food, he just ate a fish heart, RAW! I could never have his job. I thought I was a brave eater until I started watching this show!

Spring Break....Yeah!!!

Now don't get me wrong. I absolutely love my job as a teacher. But I really needed a break! I'm officially on stping break this week. I was hoping for warmer weather, it was 70 earlier this week. It snowed this morning and I was wearing hat and gloves this afternoon! Missouri weather sucks!

I spent the better part of 4 hours last night making the cupcakes in the following pictures! They were just standard cupcakes, strawberry flavored, with chocolate and buttercream frostings. Can we say sugar rush?! My cousin is getting married in about 6 weeks and we had her bridal shower today! Her colors are pink and brown, so these fit perfect. My younger brother, who notices nothing, even complimented them last night. I made them at my parents' house, I had to help her get other stuff prepared for the shower today. I love these cupcakes, they turned out even better than I had expected. My dad was impressed that I could make a rose out of frosting!
At the shower in a cupcake tree!
At my parents' house, on the counter.

These were a big hit. Well, we decided the date for my other cousin's baby shower, so I have to get to work on her shower gifts!!!

What a week!

I'm so gald this week is over! It's not really been a bad week, just a long week! I spent last weekend with my niece, she is absolutely adorable.

Tuesday night I got my hubs off to work as usual and went to bed. Then he decides to call me at 2 am, he needs to go to the emergency room. Now keep in mind that I'm married to the biggest tightwad in the world! So he comes home from work and I drive him to the ER, he is in so much abdominal pain that he can't stand, can't sit, can't lay down, just can't get even remotely comfortable. Of course, he is a man and they just cannot tolerate any pain! We have no clue what is wrong at this point. After a series of x-rays and an MRI, we find out that it is a very large kidney stone. He's had them before, just not this large. It was traveling from his kidney to his bladder, that was what was causing him so much pain. After being given 5 prescriptions and 3 hours, we are sent home. We got home at 5 am, I went to bed for a few minutes, and I got up at 6 and was at work by 7. If only I'd had Hermione's time turner! I was pretty much ok on Wednesday at work, Thursday and Friday were killers! Hubs went to the urologist yesterday, the stone is believed to traveled to his bladder. If it doesn't pass within 2 weeks, it may have to be removed, possibly surgically.

Thursday I went to the podiatrist because my ankle is still giving me grief. It is very swollen and painful. After I get my weekly dose of x-rays, they decide it is not broken, but I have a ligament that is nearly torn in half and one that is severly pulled. I am in a "boot" for the next 4 weeks. The hubs has been calling me robofoot, as it looks like I have a robot foot! I was telling this to my muggle students, so they are now calling me Mrs. Robofoot! Gotta love them!

Then the final stresser of the week, my buikding principal had to observe me yesterday, I'm not really made nervous by him, I just was nervous because the class he chose to observe is not necessarily my best class. They get distracted very easily. Oh well, life goes on!

It's gotten a bit cold here in my muggle city. It even snowed a bit yesterday! I love snow. Too bad it didn't stick. I get a lazy weekend, I plan on knitting the whole weekend. I might get a few video games in there too!

Wasn't Christmas like last week? I can't believe we are 2 weeks away from spring break. I so cannot wait for a week of rest and relaxation. Ha funny! Just wait til I post that week. I'm not sure when I'm busier, with school in session or not!

I spent the day with my niece, she is five and absolutely hilarious. We played the muggle game Cootie.

I spent Thursday and Friday out of school for a culinary competition for high school students. Our team placed next to last out of 28 teams! Oh well, they had fun and learned a lot.
